Traditionally, metal corrosion protection has relied on environmentally unfriendly chromium (III) containing passivation processes that involve significant logistical challenges. Additionally, evaluating the passivation of metals, particularly aluminum, requires extensive testing, often up to 1200 hours of salt spray testing (DIN EN ISO 9227) or PV 1209 to confirm efficacy. Faced with these challenges, three key questions arise: How can corrosion protection be achieved without harmful chemicals? What approaches exist to significantly reduce testing time? And critically, how can we reduce the carbon-intensive logistics associated with these processes?

Join us for our next PlasmaTalk as we explore fundamental questions: "PlasmaPlus® AntiCorr® technology – the solution to apply an inline corrosion protection within seconds”.

Discover the critical steps in protecting your products from the elements, especially in housing applications, by ensuring careful pretreatment of the sealing surface. The process begins with an ultra-fine cleaning of the metal surface using Openair-Plasma®, which effectively removes organic contaminants such as oil. At the same time, the metal oxide layer is modified to ensure a strong bond. With this important foundation in place, we move on to answer the questions from above.

What is PlasmaPlus® and how can corrosion protection be achieved without harmful chemicals?
Beyond the components of the Openair-Plasma® process—compressed air and electricity— PlasmaPlus® technology adds a small amount of precursor to deposit a coating. This method is applicable to diverse metals, including aluminum die-cast, magnesium, wrought aluminum, copper, and steel. The resulting AntiCorr® coating is not only environmentally friendly but also cost-effective, surpassing traditional passivation processes in thin-film performance and selective coating options.

What approaches exist to significantly reduce testing time at Plasmatreat?
Discover the revolutionary speed of testing with Plasmatreat's AntiCorr® Test Fluids. This innovative method involves depositing copper sulfate, a highly acidic and corrosive liquid, as a droplet onto the surface. Within seconds, visible results emerge, offering a rapid and reliable indication of the coating's success against salt spray. This cutting-edge approach transforms the assessment process, providing efficiency without compromising accuracy.

How can the carbon-intensive logistics be reduced by AntiCorr®?
Traditional processes often involve transporting metal components to external suppliers for galvanic treatment, resulting in increased transportation-related carbon emissions. Plasmatreat's innovative approach allows for on-site application of the AntiCorr® coating, minimizing the transportation footprint and environmental impact. This localized application not only saves time and resources but also aligns with sustainable practices by reducing the carbon footprint typically associated with transporting materials to off-site processing facilities.
